A First For Megan (and for our family)

Megan gave her very first family home evening last night! It was so neat!! She'll be eight soon, and has been looking forward to her baptism. I have a lot of files on different church topics, and I had pulled out my file on baptism yesterday. I asked her if she'd like to give the lesson, and then showed her what I had and gave her some ideas. She immediately started planning what she was going to do, and she got her notebook and wrote down a whole outline (by herself). Halfway through her lesson she stopped and said, "Now I thought would be a good time to have Paige do a song". So we sang a few songs and then she continued on. It really was special. I remember looking through my mom's files when I was little, and always reading stories from my parent's "Especially for Mormons" books. As soon as FHE was over, she asked if she could go through my files and pick something for next week! I told her she didn't have to teach every week, but she insisted. She chose "The Holy Ghost", and already began working on it last night. She's silly, but wonderful. I can't believe my daughter has grown so quickly!!! I hope I never forget these special moments.

Loving the day!

I have been loving the weather today! Finally, we got a warm day at our house!! It's weird to think that Brad's birthday was less than a week ago and this was the weather that day:

This has been a great week...
• We had Brad's birthday
• The weather warmed up enough that we could plant our peas
• I got all caught up on Paige's scrapbook up to January 2010 (that's good for me!)
• I finished the last book of the Fablehaven series (which I LOVED). It was so good. Last night I started the Hunger Games.
• I finally watched the latest Harry Potter movie (Loved it!)
• We went on our first family bike ride last night (Ashlie in the bike trailer and Paige riding along with us on her own bike).
Yeah!
• We had yummy homemade black beans & rice and mango salsa / chips last night for our Cinco de Mayo dinner
• We got out and played our first game of tennis as a family. It just might become Megan's new favorite thing! She loved it!
• A co-worker's of Brad's wanted us to try out her wii game "Just Dance", and we've had a blast with it today.
• And...when I picked up Paige from preschool today she looked like a PIRATE! :)
See what a little sun can do for the spirit!

Isn't this too cute? My friend Kitty taught letter x this week, and today she did "X marks the spot"! Paige was given a bandana, a hook, a treasure map, and a whole treasure box full of chocolate gold coins, candy necklace, and a real bracelet. No wonder Paige doesn't want to go to kindergarten - preschool's too fun! Earlier this week I picked up Paige and she was wearing a fox mask and tail! I should've gotten a photo because it was darling. Paige wore the tail until she went to bed!

I had a hard time getting a good photo of her because she wouldn't quit saying "ARRRR!"

Brad had a birthday!

Brad turned the big 3-3 this past week. Neither of us feel as old as we apparantly are. The 30's definetely feel sureal. We had a great, relaxed day, and Brad was called by pretty much every single person on both sides of our family! Yes, he was on the phone all day, but I know he enjoyed it. He also enjoyed his new Lego Star Wars wii game (A LOT!).

The first present of the day: a box full of cards from Megan and Paige. Megan writes really well now, and Paige is really into plastering as many stickers as possible on a piece of paper. It's fun...

Next, he opened up the presents from the girls and I. No, our family doesn't play tennis, but I thought maybe it would be fun to learn. I thought the kids would enjoy it too, so I got two kid rackets as well. I called the city to ask when they'd be putting up the nets on the tennis courts and the answer I got from them was that they don't put up nets. Is this typical, or is my city odd?????!! Who plays tennis without a net? :)

Yummy Cake! Notice I said "yummy" - not beautiful. Store bought frosting is becoming one of my favorite things - seriously.
My homemade frosting just isn't the same. Sprinkles + chocolate frosting = yum!

Here's the guy I love!
